Petron Oil Sells Business to Lykins Oil
MILFORD, Ohio -- Lykins Oil Co. purchased Petron Oil Co. for an undisclosed sum. The deal will allow convenience stores and gas stations in Petron's service areas of Pickaway, Ross, Pike, Scioto and Fairfield counties in Ohio to offer Shell, BP, Marathon, ExxonMobil, Clark and unbranded fuels.
In addition, Petron's former commercial clients, including convenience stores, will have access to new products including Eco Supreme Diesel, E85, diesel, compressed natural gas and liquefied natural gas.
"I'm very excited about this consolidation," said Jim Doersam, owner of Chillicothe, Ohio-based Petron Oil. "It's the combination of two great family-owned businesses combining resources and buying power to deliver even better products and customer service to Petron's individual and commercial clients."
Petron Oil was founded by Val Doersam -- Jim's grandfather -- in 1956. The company was originally named Oil and Battery Petroleum Sales Co. Inc. Jim Doersam changed the name to Petron Inc., dba Petron Oil, in 1981.
Jim Doersam and his 17-employee staff will transition to Lykins. The owner of Petron is encouraging his customers to continue to do business with the new owners. "The office will be run by the same people our customers have known and trusted for nearly 60 years, just with a different name," he said. "People can expect the same top-quality operating standards and service level, with an even greater variety of products and services and a continued commitment to exceed customer expectations."
Lykins Oil President Jeff Lykins said the purchase of Petron will expand its operating region. "We look forward to working with the businesses and residents to supply them with the best oil options, product selection and best customer service possible."
Milford, Ohio-based Lykins Oil Co. was founded in 1948 by Guy Lykins Sr. It serves customers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, as well as several other Midwestern and Southeastern states.
