Pilot Flying J Promos Aim to 'Whet' Summer Travelers' Appetites
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Pilot Flying J is gearing up to keep a record number of summertime travelers refueled, refreshed and relaxed through discounts, renovated bathrooms and an expanded variety of fresh and fast meal options.
During the 2016 summer driving season, 69 percent of families are selecting road trips as their vacation of choice, according to a recent AAA survey.
From now through July 7, customers can take advantage of the travel center chain's "Thunger" promotion, which was designed to provide choice and variety. Thungry offers any king-size candy bar or XXVL Frito Lay bag for just $1 with the purchase of any non-alcoholic beverage in-store.
Those with a larger appetite can enjoy "Unexpectedly Awesome" PJ Fresh Pizza, a new lineup of PJ Fresh breakfast sandwiches made with artisan ingredients and a large number of quick-service partners, including Subway, Wendy's, Cinnabon, Denny's and Moe's Southwest Grill.
"We know travelers have many needs while on the road, so we aim to make the total experience for our guests as enjoyable and productive as possible," said Pilot Flying J President Ken Parent. "For our guests, we are a travel-center destination they can rely on because we're always listening to what matters to them most."
To ensure that travelers have a comfortable and clean place to stop during their summer travels, Pilot Flying J also recently invested $50 million to renovate bathrooms across its network of travel centers.
This includes amenities such as LED lighting, eco-friendly hand dryers, Italian tile accents and more. These upgrades are complete at locations in travel hubs like Illinois, Texas, Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Florida and California. The remainder of sites will be upgraded over the next two years.
Knoxville-based Pilot Flying J operates more than 650 retail locations in North America.
