Pioneers Teri Richman and John Hervey Lead First Class Into New PCATS/CSNews Technology Hall of Fame

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- This year, the Convenience Store News Technology Leadership Awards will share the stage with the first-ever PCATS/CSNews Technology Hall of Fame Awards this year at NACStech.

Both awards will be presented at the PCATS/CSNews 1st Annual Technology Leadership Awards Reception at 6:30 pm on May 17 at the Mirage Poolside/Dolphin Bar in Las Vegas.

Recipients of Hall of Fame Awards are industry pioneers who advanced the cause of the convenience and fuel retailing industry through the development and use of technology standards. This year, the awards are bestowed posthumously.

Teri Richman, Long-Time Industry Leader
Teri joined NACS in 1982 as our first in-house federal lobbyist. Over the course of her 20-plus years at NACS, Teri was involved in nearly every major industry issue and initiative, from defeating beer-gas bans in the mid-1980s, to improving store security in the late 1980s and early 1990s, to introducing technology standards in the mid-1990s, to fighting outrageous credit card fees with the founding of the Merchants Payments Coalition in 2005.

John Hervey, Industry Pioneer John had a long and distinguished career in the convenience and fuel retailing industry before joining NACS in 2000 as its chief technology officer. A year later he was named one of the "Top 25 Chief Technology Officers" by CTO magazine. After PCATS was spun off from NACS in 2003, John was named executive director of the newly formed association and guided its growth and standards adoption work until his retirement in 2009. During his tenure at PCATS, John's guidance and expertise helped develop today's commonplace industry standards, including POS and back-office integration, electronic B2B document exchange, payment systems and device integration.,p> The awards ceremony is sponsored in part by the following suppliers: VeriFone, Pinnacle Corp., Radiant Systems, Red Prairie, Gilbarco Veeder-Root, Kick Back Rewards Systems and PDI.

Winners of this year's CSNews Retail Technology Leader of the Year and Tech Implementation of the Year Awards will be announced next week.
