QuickChek Going Through a Growth Spurt
WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — QuickChek Corp. is boosting its footprint via its long-term growth strategy, adding three new convenience stores and creating 85 new jobs in the Garden State in the span of one month.
"We strive to be the neighborhood shopping destination close to where our customers live and work," said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. "These new stores allow us to better serve these markets and provide our customers with more food and fueling options. We're proud to continue to move ahead, opening new locations and creating new local jobs to serve our local communities."
The convenience retailer, known for its foodservice and coffee offerings, opened a new store in Fairfield, N.J., on Oct. 13 and plans to open a location in the Morganville section of Marlboro Township, N.J., on Oct. 27. The third new location is slated to welcome customers in Lakewood, N.J., on Nov. 16.
In addition, its first Long Island, N.Y., store in the Village of Lake Grove, will mark its one-year anniversary — and the retailer's move into Long Island— on Oct. 27.
With these new stores, QuickChek will have opened 32 new retail locations and hired an additional 1,200 people in the past eight years.
"Our plan has been to maintain good, steady growth over time," Durling said. "Being privately held allows us to succeed at our pace."
The opening of the new Fairfield store brings the company's total to 141 fresh convenience markets serving New Jersey, New York's Hudson Valley and Long Island, including 11 pharmacy stores and 50 locations with fuel.
The company, which employs more than 3,500 people, has been named one of the Best Places to Work in both New Jersey and New York State.
The new stores will be open 24 hours a day and feature QuickChek's fresh food and beverage program, in which consumers use touchscreen technology to create custom-made, oven-toasted subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads.
In-store Q Cafés offer nearly 40 varieties of handcrafted hot and iced cold coffees, iced caramel macchiato, fresh brewed cappuccinos, lattes and espressos, blended-to-order real fruit smoothies, and decadent frozen treats. No-fee ATMs provide additional added value to consumers, with fueling stations offering high-quality fuel at value prices.
