QuickChek SVP Takes Christmas Shift for 39th Year
NEWTON, N.J. — A familiar face could be found working at the QuickChek location here Thursday. QuickChek Corp. Senior Vice President Mike Murphy went to work on Christmas Day for the 39th consecutive year.
“If I’m going to have people work that day, then I’ve always felt I should be there, too,” Murphy told the Hunterdon County Democrat. “I work in different stores every year doing what I can to help out.”
On Christmas Day, Murphy worked from 6 a.m. to noon at the Newton store, with coffee and batteries being two of the biggest in-demand items. “Our company has been built on Total Customer Dedication, its something we live 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” Murphy told the newspaper. “It’s the nature of the business and the times we live in.”
For the first time, nine QuickChek locations were open on Christmas. “We have customers who come into stores in their pajamas, which in a way is fitting as we’ve been their neighborhood shopping destination all year long,” Murphy told the Democrat.
Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based QuickChek Corp. operates 139 convenience stores throughout New Jersey, New York’s Hudson Valley and Long Island.
