QuikTrip to Stop Offering Co-Branded Debit Card
TULSA, Okla. -- QuikTrip's nearly one-year foray into offering a branded debit card will end on Friday, according to the Wichita Eagle. That's when San Mateo, Calif.-based Tempo Payments will cease operations.
QuikTrip first signed on to offer a rewards-based debit card under the Discover name last August. The convenience retailer sent an e-mail last Thursday alerting its debit card holders to the cancellation.
"It's back to the drawing board, and we'll figure out the next move," QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh told the newspaper. He added that QuikTrip debit card holders will receive all cash rewards due from their use of the card at other merchants.
According to the report, QuikTrip will consider offering another branded debit card in the future. "The program worked for us," Thornbrugh said. "We'll regroup and try to figure out another method…Something that's long-lasting, verifiable and saves our consumer some money is something we're all for."
