RaceTrac Will Join E15 Fuel Retailers Club This Year

ATLANTA — RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. will add E15 to its fuel offer at more than 100 of its convenience stores throughout its Southeastern U.S. operating region later this year.

E15 is a renewable fuel comprising 15-percent ethanol and 85-percent gasoline. Carrying an 88 octane rating, E15 was approved by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency for use in all vehicles manufactured in the year 2001 or newer.

RaceTrac currently offers other renewable fuels at the pump, including E85 — a blend of 70-percent to 85-percent ethanol and the remainder gasoline — at the pump.

“RaceTrac’s mission is to make people’s lives simpler and more enjoyable and offering a variety of fuel types to appeal to our guests’ needs is one of the ways we deliver on that mission,” said RaceTrac Chief Supply Officer Max McBrayer. “With the debut of E15 in more than 100 of our stores, RaceTrac is proud to provide our guests a competitively priced alternative fuel option to complement our already diverse offering which today includes other alternative fuel products such as E85 flex fuel.”

Growth Energy, which represents the producers and suppliers of ethanol, applauded RaceTrac’s addition of the renewable fuel.

“We are thrilled to have RaceTrac join our retailer family and look forward to expanding access to E15 for consumers across the southern United States with them,” said Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor. “As a longtime supporter of alternative fuels, such as E85, RaceTrac is committed to providing its customers with a choice at their pumps. By adding E15, RaceTrac will bring even more renewable fuel options to consumers, providing greater choice and savings to motorists.”

Sheetz Inc., Kum & Go LC, MAPCO, Minnoco, Thorntons Inc., Murphy USA Inc. and Protec are among the other retailers already offering E15 at the pump.

Atlanta-based RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. operates more than 400 convenience store locations in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.
