RaceTrac’s Allison Moran Named CSNews’ Retailer Executive of the Year
ATLANTA — Allison Moran, CEO of RaceTrac Petroleum Inc., has been selected as 2017 Retailer Executive of the Year by Convenience Store News’ blue-chip panel of industry leaders.
The award, now in its fourth year, recognizes a retailer executive who exemplifies leadership, business acumen, dedication to the industry, and commitment to community service. Last year’s Retailer Executive of the Year was Ari Haseotes, CEO of Cumberland Farms Inc.
Moran, along with the 2017 inductees into the CSNews Hall of Fame — 7-Eleven Inc. President and CEO Joe DePinto and Blake Benefiel, director of trade and state relations for Altria Group Distribution Co. — will be honored at a gala banquet and induction ceremony this fall in Dallas, the headquarters city for 7-Eleven, which has more than 10,600 stores in North America. The Hall of Fame honors pioneers and innovators for their lifetime of service to the industry.
With more than 700 stores, Atlanta-based RaceTrac Petroleum is one of the top 20 chains on CSNews’ annual Top 100 list, which ranks convenience chains by store count. Moran joined her family’s 80-plus-year-old business in 1994, working in the operations department.
She was promoted to vice president of human resources in 1999, and then to senior vice president in 2005, leading the company’s RaceTrac division. In January 2013, Moran assumed the role of chief executive officer, succeeding her father Carl Bolch Jr., who continues to serve as chairman and was inducted into the CSNews Hall of Fame in 2009.
As the most senior member of the third generation in the business, Moran is leading the transition to the next generation of leadership with three of her siblings.
Moran received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Denison University in 1990, and she is a Kellogg Scholar at the Kellogg School of Business Management at Northwestern University.
In addition to her work at RaceTrac, she is a member of the board of directors for Herschend Family Enterprises Inc.; and an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), serving on the executive committee for the Family Business Network. In addition, Moran serves on the board of trustees for The Westminster Schools, her alma mater, the board of trustees for Rhodes College; and is a member of the board of directors for NACS, the Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing.
Moran was recognized as a “Woman of the Year” in the 2014 CSNews Top Women in Convenience awards program, and was named one of the Top 50 Influential People of Atlanta by James Magazine (2015-2017). Finally, she was also recognized as the 2016 Woman Executive of the Year by the Shelby Report.
She and her husband, Crawford, have two daughters, Jorie and Margaret.
