Radiant Acquires Aloha

ATLANTA -- Radiant Systems Inc. acquired Aloha Technologies, a point-of-sale (POS) systems provider for the hospitality industry. Aloha CEO Manny Negreiro will run Radiant's new hospitality division, which will be based in Dallas.

Radiant offers comprehensive solutions from advanced POS systems to self-service kiosks, customer loyalty systems, and integrated back-office solutions.

Scott Kingsfield, vice president of Radiant, said Aloha's experience and expertise in loyalty programs and other areas would enhance Radiant's service to the convenience store industry. He added that Aloha has a network of 150 dealers within the United States and outside the country, which will aid in serving customers.

Aloha's products can be found in 30,000 restaurants and about 1,000 convenience stores, Kingsfield said.

He added, "We've driven a lot of costs out of our products. Five years ago, to implement a touch-screen scanning system cost twice as much as today. Our touch screen solution is about he same price as a keyboard proprietary solution." Lower-cost systems mean that single store owners need not be left out of technology implementation and upgrades, he said.
