A Rebranding for Kroger's Turkey Hill Stores?

CINCINNATI — The Kroger Co. unveiled its new Fresh Eats MKT concept on May 10 in Blacklick, Ohio, according to published reports. The concept may serve as a rebranding model for Kroger's existing Turkey Hill convenience stores.

Fresh Eats MKT is a "different kind of convenience store," Chief Financial Officer Mike Schlotman said during a May 9 investor presentation. He added that the Blacklick store will serve as a "small test."

The store offers fresh produce, meat, bakery and dairy, according to the Fresh Eats MKT Instagram page. A Starbucks is also located onsite.

Another Fresh Eats MKT store planned for West Jefferson, Ohio, will include produce, deli, beer, wine and floral departments, plus a drive-thru pharmacy and a Starbucks with indoor and outdoor seating.

Job listings on Kroger's website indicate that it is seeking workers for three Fresh Eats MKT sites in the central Ohio region, including some that currently operate as Turkey Hill.

The Blacklick store is located at 930 N. Waggoner Road. Other Fresh Eats MKT stores are planned for Columbus, New Albany, and Marysville, Ohio.

Cincinnati-based Kroger operates 2,796 retail food stores under a variety of local banner names in 35 states and Washington, D.C.
