Royal Farms to Plant First Stores in Garden State

BALTIMORE, Md. — A well-known convenience store banner around Maryland is continuing to move north. 

First Royal Farms set up shop in Pennsylvania's Delaware County. Now, the Baltimore-based chain is making plans to open at least four convenience stores in New Jersey.

According to NJ.com, Royal Farms received approval to open build a 5,400-square-foot store and gas station in Magnolia, N.J. The other three proposed location are in Mount Laurel, Bellmawr and East Greenwich.

The retailer will compete in these locations with Wawa Inc., which has a strong foothold on the Philadelphia and South Jersey markets. In early 2015, Royal Farms opened a store in Ridley Township, Pa., and planned to follow it up with a store in a second Delaware County locale, Upper Chichester, as CSNews Online previously reported.

In all, Royal Farms has 167 convenience stores in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
