Rutter’s Engages Customers in Vote With Your Cup Campaign
YORK, Pa. — Rutter’s Farm Stores wants to know what its customers think this election with a new Presidential Vote With Your Cup contest.
At participating convenience stores, Rutter’s customers can select cups with the candidates’ pictures on them — a blue cup for Hillary Clinton or a red cup for Donald Trump — when purchasing a fountain or frozen drink. The cups will be scanned at checkout for accurate tracking of consumer votes. Empty presidential cups are available for purchase for 25 cents.
“This is a great, fun way to involve our customers during a tension filled election," said Derek Gaskins, chief customer officer. "We decided to create this event to acknowledge the rich history and importance of Pennsylvania as a key swing state. Rutter’s has 64 stores in Pennsylvania. York was the first capital of the United States, and the Mid-Atlantic region where our stores are concentrated is pivotal to elections."
Every Tuesday leading up to the election, Rutter’s will have a Tally-Up Tuesday, and results of the scanned cup sales will appear as poll updates on Rutters.com and the c-store retailer’s Facebook page.
Rutter’s joins c-store operator 7-Eleven Inc. this election with the selling and tracking of presidential cups, as CSNews Online previously reported.
York, Pa.-based Rutter’s is a family-owned convenience store chain operating more than 60 locations throughout central Pennsylvania.
