Rutter's On the Move
YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Holdings Inc., parent company of Rutter's Farm Stores, moved up one place to claim the fourth spot on this year's Central Penn Business Journal's annual list of the Privately Held Companies in central Pennsylvania.
The list, featured in the weekly newspaper's Aug. 3 issue, ranks companies based on their 2006 revenue. Rutter's Holdings -- also parent company to Rutter's Dairy and real estate holding company M&G Realty -- ranked fifth on the 2006 list. This year, it posted the second-largest revenue increase, a $90 million gain from 2005 to 2006.
Family-owned and third generation-managed, the York, Pa.-based Rutter's companies employ more than 1,000 people in central Pennsylvania. Rutter's Farm Stores, which debuted in 1967 as a retail outlet for Rutter' s Dairy products, has 51 stores in Pennsylvania's York, Cumberland, Lancaster, Adams and Franklin counties.
