Rutter's to Send Love to Troops
YORK, Pa. -- For the fifth consecutive year, convenience store chain Rutter's Farm Stores, operating 55 stores based here, and the nonprofit Support Our American Recruits (SOAR) will send Valentine's Day goodie boxes to area troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, according to the retailer's Web site.
The organizations expect to send approximately 50 boxes, each containing items for a military unit of 15 to 20 people. Boxes will be filled with items donated by Rutter's vendors including salted snacks, candy, chewing gum and Valentine's Day cards.
SOAR was founded in York County, with the mission of supporting troops serving at home and overseas, honoring veterans and providing a support group for family members of the troops, according to the Web site.
Area residents who would like to submit names for the program can contact Becky Bair, executive director of SOAR, at (717) 235-2766 or at [email protected]. Requests will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.
