Rutter's Teams With SOAR This Valentine's Day

YORK, Pa. -- Love and support is in the air for Rutter's Farm Stores as they team up with the nonprofit Support Our American Recruits (SOAR) this Valentine's Day. For the sixth year in a row the c-store chain, in cooperation with the nonprofit, will be sending out Valentine's Day goodie boxes for area troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, according to a company release.

The goodie boxes will be stuffed with love in the form of many items including: salted snacks, candy, chewing gum, magazines and Valentine's Day cards. Donations for the boxes came from Rutter's vendors including: Utz Quality Foods, Martin's Potato Chips, Hershey's, Harrisburg News, ConAgra Foods, Chase-Goldenberg, S&D and AWI, according to the release.

On Jan. 19, Rutter's and SOAR volunteers will gather at Emigsville Fire Hall at 3118 N. George Street in Emigsville to begin the process of filling the goodie boxes. Area residents who have loved ones serving in Iraq, Afghanistan or Kuwait are encouraged to submit their names to have a goodie box delivered. Submissions are on a first-come, first-serve basis and all submissions should be addressed to Becky Bair, executive director of SOAR at (717) 235-2766 or at [email protected].

Founded in York County, Support Our American Troops' mission is to support troops serving at home and overseas, honor veterans, and provide a support group for troops' family members.

Family owned and operated, Rutter's Farm Stores is based here and operates 56 c-stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Lancaster counties.
