Sales Rising

DALLAS -- 7-Eleven Inc., operator of more than 5,800 convenience stores in North America, yesterday reported U.S. same-store sales in July rose 3.4 percent while total sales increased 4.1 percent.

Total merchandise sales for July 2002 were $683.4 million, up 4.1 percent to $656.3 million, 7-Eleven said.

Gasoline sales for July 2002 were $258.5 million, a 4.1-percent increase compared with $248.4 million in the prior-year period. Average gallons sold per store advanced 3.1 percent in July 2002 compared with the July 2001 result. The average retail price of gasoline for July 2002 was $1.44, compared with $1.45 in July 2001.
