SavOn Adds Slot Machines to Second Site
CANASTOTA, N.Y. — The Oneida Indian Nation is offering slot machines at a second SavOn convenience store, reported Syracuse.com. The store, located at 5233 Patrick Road in Verona, N.Y., opened a 24-hour cash slot parlor room that features 21 slot machines on Monday.
This follows the addition of 14 slot machines at a Canastota SavOn store in November 2014, as CSNews Online previously reported. Both of the SavOn locations that offer slot machines are located near the Oneida tribe's Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona. Turning Stone rewards cards will be accepted at the SavOn slots machines.
"After receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback about our first SavOn gaming location, it is clear that our guests appreciate the accessibility and alternate gaming option," said Oneida Nation Representative and CEO Ray Halbritter in a released statement.
Money generated by the slot machines is subject to the 2013 agreement between the tribe, New York State and Oneida and Madison counties that grants the state 25 percent of slots revenue, which it then distributes among several counties.
The Oneida Indian Nation owns and operates 13 SavOn c-stores and gas stations.
