Savoy Travel Plaza Acquired by TravelCenters of America

WESTLAKE, OHIO -- TravelCenters of America LLC has acquired Savoy Travel Center, winner of 2011's Convenience Store News for the Single Store Owner inaugural Store Design Contest as the Best Original, Honorable Mention entry.

Located off of I-10's exit 68 at 14150 Hwy. 418 SW in Deming, N.M., the location has been rebranded under the Petro Stopping Centers banner. This raises the number of full-service travel centers in the TA and Petro Stopping Centers branded chain to 241, said the company.

Amenities at the new Petro include 150 truck parking spaces; 10 diesel lanes; fully stocked 8,250-square-foot travel store; 135-seat full-serve, sit-down restaurant; TA Truck Service repair facility with three service bays; nine showers; emergency roadside service; driver's lounge for professional drives; separate gas island with six dispensers for motorists; and the UltraONE Rewards Program kiosk and swiping system.

"We are pleased to acquire this location and open it as our newest Petro, and glad for the opportunity to preserve existing jobs and create new jobs in Deming," said Tom O'Brien, President and CEO of TravelCenters, operator of the TA and Petro Stopping Centers brands. "Petro Deming is about in the middle of a 170-mile gap on I-10 in New Mexico between our two next closest locations. Finally, professional drivers can find a real full-service truck stop on a lengthy stretch of Interstate where before only limited choices existed."
