Seasons Corner Market Makes EMV Upgrades at the Forecourt

CRANSTON, R.I. — Colbea Inc. dba Seasons Corner Market is implementing Gilbarco Veeder-Root's Passport Point of Sale with EMV functionality for in-store upgrades and FlexPay IV payment terminals at the pump across its entire network of more than 100 convenience stores.

"Gilbarco has proven to be an excellent supplier throughout the EMV upgrade process. I feel confident in standardizing on their EMV solutions, both at the fuel dispenser and inside our stores," said Andrew Delli Carpini, CEO, Colbea. "Its forecourt media offering has been a great asset for attracting customers to our stores and also growing in-store sales, and its Passport point of sale has helped us run our business efficiently. I am looking forward to the continued advancements in technology and services that Gilbarco continues to offer."

EMV is an acronym for Europay, MasterCard and Visa, the three companies that originally created the security standard. For its in-store point-of-sale upgrades, Gilbarco’s Passport provides a multi-EMV card format support, which ensures that all EMV-capable credit cards and debit cards are processes as a chip payment, intended to provide additional protection against fraud.

At the forecourt, Colbea will also add Applause TV as part of these upgrades.

"We are pleased to partner with Colbea on its EMV upgrade needs,” said Mark Williams, vice president of marketing, North America, for Gilbarco. “It continues to be a proactive marketer, and are taking advantage of equipment upgrades driven by EMV to also improve how it interacts with its customers to drive more business."

Greensboro, N.C.-based Gilbarco Veeder-Root offers a broad range of integrated solutions from the forecourt to the c-store and head office.

Cranston-based Colbea Inc.’s 100-plus c-stores are located in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
