Sheetz Customers Help Haiti

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz convenience stores and their customers are donating more than $56,000 to help victims of the Jan. 12, earthquake that hit Haiti.

"Our customers are the best in the world. They are always more than willing to help others in need," Stan Sheetz, president and CEO, said in a statement. "We are happy to match their generosity and play a part in helping the people of Haiti recover from this disaster."

Throughout February, customers gave a total of $28,359.37 to the relief effort, and Sheetz is matching that total, bringing the final figure to $56,718.74. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross. Donations were collected in boxes displayed at all 368 Sheetz stores in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
