Sheetz Heralds Central Pennsylvania Growth Spurt

ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz Inc. has expanded beyond its traditional borders, notably moving south to North Carolina, but the retailer also continues to boost its presence in its home state. 

This month, the Altoona-based convenience store chain will throw open the doors at three new stores in central Pennsylvania: Manheim, Hummelstown-Derry Township, and York.

The new Sheetz store in Manheim will be the first of the three to welcome customers on Dec. 8, followed by the new store near Hershey in the Hummelstown and Derry Township area on Dec. 15, and finally the latest location in York on Dec. 22. These new locations will welcome customers with a special offer of free self-serve coffee, for a limited time.

The grand-opening festivities for each store will begin at 11 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by a Sheetz family member, with community members in attendance.

Sheetz will donate $2,500 to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania during the grand-opening ceremony at each store. The chain has been a supporter of Special Olympics for more than 20 years. 

Established in 1952, Sheetz operates more than 535 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina. Its revenue tops $6.9 billion and it has 17,500 employees.

All Sheetz locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The addition of the three new stores will offer more than 60 full and part-time job opportunities.
