Sheetz Joins in National Donut Day Celebration
ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz Inc. joined in the celebration of National Donut Day Friday. The Altoona-based retailer offered free doughnuts to loyalty cardholders at all locations while supplies lasted.
The convenience retailer's giveaway not only celebrated the tasty treat, but also honored the growth of its Shweetz Bakery line over the past few years. The line includes a variety of doughnuts, muffins and other baked goods, which are freshly made and delivered to Sheetz stores daily.
Sheetz serves many kinds of glazed, frosted and filled doughnuts, including its new seasonal doughnut, the Orange Dreamsicle.
Sheetz operates more than 500 locations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and North Carolina.
Sheetz joined other c-store chains, including Cumberland Farms Inc. and QuickChek Corp., in marking June 5 with free doughnut giveaways, as CSNews Online previously reported.
National Donut Day is celebrated the first Friday of June each year. It was established in 1938 to pay tribute to the women who, as part of the Salvation Army, served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
