Sheetz N.C. Distribution Center Nears Finish Line

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Sheetz Inc. is eyeing a November completion date for its newest distribution center.

The $32.8-million facility rising in Burlington will house a Sheetz Bros. Kitchen bakery, distribution and warehousing center for the Sheetz distribution fleet, and serve as the main terminal for Sheetz's fuel carrier CLI Transport, and should be finished relatively soon with training beginning Oct. 13, according to the Time-News.

"We've identified over 150 people that we will be offering positions to between now and the end of January," Tarah Arnold, Sheetz manager of public relations, told the news outlet. "We will start training in the facility on Oct. 13, and the first truck ships Dec. 9."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 12.

In 2011 Sheetz announced it was looking to build a new distribution center that would be easily accessible to North Carolina's Triangle and Triad areas as the retailer began expanding in the North Carolina market, as CSNews Online previously reported.

The company selected the 44-acre site at 1737 Whites Kennel Road in Burlington in September 2012 and broke ground on the 250,000-square-foot building on July 10, 2013.

Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. has more than 450 convenience stores in six states.
