Sheetz Reaches Milestone with Category One

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc., operator of more than 330 convenience stores based here, has reached and exceeded a savings milestone with Category One, a Los Angeles-based reverse auction, eRFX services and technology provider. Using Category One's sourcing technology, Sheetz has seen a tenfold return-on-investment in eSourcing technology and practices, the company stated.

"The Category One e-sourcing process and technology has been in place for over three years, and the results continue to grow," Bill Ruggles, senior purchasing manager at Sheetz, said in a statement. "Category One has helped us identify the key categories and provided us with leading edge auction technology. The result has exceeded our expectations. What is astounding is that it continues to deliver year after year."

Category One maintains thousands of vendor contacts in the channels it supports, according to the company. Its technology is provided on a Software as a Service (SaaS) basis, either a full- or self-service basis.

"Sheetz is clearly the role model for both the convenience and foodservice industries," Joe Buchanan, managing director for Category One, said in a statement. "Their commitment to great food, fast service and broad selection requires a streamlined procurement process. It also requires a great supply chain. Sheetz is a power user of our tools in every sense, from screening suppliers for safety and testing compliance, to negotiating low costs on store supplies. Their return on investment is impressive, to say the least."
