Sheetz ‘Snackadium’ a Hit on Social Media
ALTOONA, Pa. -- When it comes to snacking, Sheetz Inc. takes its offering seriously. So, when a Pittsburgh radio station asked the convenience store chain if it has ever built a stadium from its made-to-order (MTO) snacks, Sheetz quickly rose to the challenge.
According to a report by WTAJ News, Mikey from “The Morning Freak Show” on 96.1 Kiss Radio reached out to the c-store chain via Twitter last week, prior to the Super Bowl. “@sheetz ever think about building an MTO snackadium? I think about it a lot,” he tweeted on Jan. 28.
Just two days later, the radio show host’s dream came true. Sheetz Chef Dan Coffin and his team, Alex Hawk, Shelly Long and Kevin Tennant, created a stadium built out of the c-store chain’s signature MTO snacks and appetizers, including Hot Dogz, Subz, Burgerz, Sheetz Bros. Coffeez Drinks, Shweetz Donuts and Churros.
By Friday, Sheetz was trending nationally on Facebook as a result of “Snackadium.”
The food architectural wonder was later demolished, the news outlet reported.
