Shell Affiliate Wins Supply Contracts and 29 Locations
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Twenty-nine Shell branded gasoline and three supply contracts have been awarded to True North Energy LLC.
True North, Shell's largest wholesaler, will now supply 335 million gallons per year to 230 Shell branded stations throughout Ohio and Michigan. It will keep the Shell name at the 29 locations to better serve customers and maintain brand awareness in the region, the company stated.
The sale falls under Shell's strategy to maintain a portfolio that provides maximum value to customers and shareholders.
"This transaction allows us to have a premiere Shell wholesaler located in central Ohio to serve customers in the state. True North has always represented the Shell brand well and their outstanding service delivery of our customer value proposition is reflective of the Shell brand," said Stu Crum, general manager of retail strategy and portfolio in the U.S. for Shell, in a written statement.
At this time, the purchase price could not be disclosed.
Last fall, Shell Oil had announced its intent to sell its retail assets in 16 regions in an effort to support its wholesale business more fully, and become the best fuels retailer in the world, the company stated in a written statement.
