Shell Selects Bennett Pump to Supply LNG Dispensers
SPRING LAKE, Mich. -- Bennett Pump Co. has been selected by Shell to supply fuel dispensers for liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling stations across the United States.
In May, Shell and TravelCenters of America (TA) opened their first LNG station in Ontario, Calif. This station is the first of a Shell and TA agreement to jointly sell LNG to heavy-duty road transport customers in the United States at TA and Petro fueling centers.
The station is open to the public and features two fueling lanes that provide LNG customers with a familiar fueling experience when using the Bennett LNG dispensers.
The remaining Shell/TravelCenters of America LNG fueling stations will be built across North America in a phased approach based on customer demand at existing truck stop sites, with the intention of adding dispensers alongside existing diesel fueling lanes.
“We are pleased to be a part of this exciting project to put an LNG fueling network in place”, said Tom Thompson, president of Bennett Pump Co. “We have worked closely with Shell and their partners to deliver a safe and viable alternative fuel option for long-haul transport.”
LNG benefits include lower fuel costs, reduced engine noise levels, improved local air quality and virtually no risk of ground contamination, according to the Michigan-based equipment supplier.
Bennett Pump Co. offers a full line of dispensers for alternative fuels, including diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), flex fuel (ethanol blends), biodiesel, LNG, compressed natural gas (CNG) and hydrogen.
