Shell Selects Gilbarco As Strategic POS Provider
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Inc.'s Passport POS has begun certification with Shell Oil Products U.S. as a strategic point-of-sale (POS) system -- one of only two nationwide. This process is part of Shell's program to standardize POS equipment across its entire network of branded locations.
Shell selected Passport due to its open architecture, feature set and scalability. Passport offers a clear migration path to new features based on its modular software architecture. This approach allows retailers to scale the feature set to individual site requirements with the ability to turn on new feature sets remotely as business requirements grow.
"We have had a successful history with Gilbarco POS systems and are excited to bring Passport's enhanced features to our retailers and wholesalers," said Sonny Sedate, manager of technology services, Shell Oil. "We require systems that are flexible, easy to enhance and that provide state-of-the-art functionality for our brand."
"Gilbarco's G-SITE systems represent the largest installed base of POS systems at Shell company-operated and jobber locations," said Chris Whitley, director of POS marketing. "The migration to Passport will be very simple and cost effective."
