Shop ‘n Save to Break Ground on Pa. Store
A brand-new Shop ‘n Save will rise in Youngwood, Pa., with a groundbreaking celebration scheduled to take place on April 16 at 3 p.m. The location will anchor the 70,000-square-foot Youngwood Commons shopping center. Youngwood Mayor Joan B. Derco and other local officials are scheduled to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
Store owners Tom and Debbie Jamieson have spent more than a quarter-century in the grocery and retail business. “This new development will be a wonderful destination for Youngwood residents and serve as a source of growth for the community,” said Tom Jamieson, adding that the full-service store would offer “double coupons, weekly specials and everyday savings.”
Loyalty Counts
The 35,000-square-foot supermarket, slated to open in late fall 2014, will provide a wide variety of fresh produce, prepared food, large dairy and frozen food sections, a full-service deli, an in-store bakery, fresh seafood, and meat with on-site butchers, as well as an on-site bank. When customers sign up for the Shop ‘n Save Perks Card, they’ll get special discounts, along with Pump Perks redeemable at more than 130 participating Sunoco gas stations, including one across the street from the planned store.
Youngwood Commons, which the Jamiesons also own, is expected to create as many as 200 new jobs. The store will be the Jamiesons’ 10th independently owned and operated Shop ‘n Save. In addition to the supermarket, the shopping center will include a beer distributor, an auto parts store and a dollar store.
There are more than 90 independently owned and operated Shop ‘n Save stores in western Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Ohio and West Virginia.
