Southern California Chevron Stations Raise Money for Fire Victims

COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. -- Five Chevron Extra Mile locations are helping raise donations for families that were left homeless after a fire ravaged three homes in north Palm Springs last week, local television station KESQ reported.

The stations will accept donations until July 13, and anyone wishing to donate can drop off a cash donation at any Extra Mile Chevron in the area, according to the report.

The fire occurred on June 4, and destroyed two trailer homes and damaged a third. Wind also carried the blaze, catching 12 palm trees on fire. The fire's cause remains under investigation, the report stated.

The five locations accepting donations are:

-- Palm Springs: 6600 N. Indian Canyon Dr.;
-- Thousand Palms: 72276 Ramon Rd.;
-- Rancho Mirage: 36101 Bob Hope Dr.;
-- Palm Desert: 72801 Highway 111; and,
-- Cabazon: 48320 Seminole Dr.
