This year's CSNews Store Design Contest specialty winners and honorable mentions leave their mark for years to come
You can say this about Convenience Store News' Store Design Contest specialty winners and honorable mentions this year: they are not only completely different from one other, but from all past winners as well. From graffiti-based décor to a growler bar depicting a New York City subway station, these award-winning designs deliver plenty of charisma.
The CSNews design awards honor convenience retailers that create the most innovative and shopper-friendly looks for their stores. Entries are judged on creativity, innovation and the impact the design has on the overall business.
Aware that they must do more to separate themselves, competition in the CSNews Store Design Contest, now in its sixth year, was fiercer than ever before. For 2011, 14 convenience store chains are being honored, all of which help ascend industry store design to a whole new level.
Here, we highlight nine of the 14 winners, including Best International Store Design; Best Beer Cave; Best Cold Vault; Best Specialty Department; Honorable Mention: Best Original Store Design; Honorable Mention: Best Interior Design; Honorable Mention: Best Low-Cost Remodel (less than $100,000); Honorable Mention: Sky's the Limit Remodel (more than $250,000); and Honorable Mention: Best Green Design.
