Spinx Awards March of Dimes Supporter a Year of Free Gas
GREENVILLE, S.C. — South Carolina resident Eric Ashemore earned a free year of gas from The Spinx Co. as part of the convenience store chain's March for Babies fundraising effort.
For the fifth consecutive year, Spinx gave away a year of free gas to one lucky March of Dimes supporter. For every $100 raised or donated in conjunction with the March for Babies walk, that individual’s name was entered to win the free gas for a year grand prize.
Ashemore has supported the March of Dimes since 2006. This year, he donated to the charity via a payroll deduction option offered by his employer, Electrolux.
“I was a preemie and my daughter was a preemie,” Ashemore responded when asked about his connection to the March of Dimes. Ashemore’s daughter is now 17.
Stan Storti, president of The Spinx Co., presented Ashemore with the grand prize on Aug. 28.
“At Spinx, making our communities a better place to live, work and play is a core value that stems from our founder, Stewart Spinks, and is shared by every team member across our company,” Storti said to Ashemore in a speech. “Because children are at the center of our giving mission, and having been touched by prematurity through my own son, it gives me great pride and satisfaction to present you with gift cards for one year of free gas. Thank you for being a loyal Spinx customer and thank you for your continued support of the March of Dimes.”
Greenville-based Spinx, founded in 1972, operates 80 convenience stores throughout South Carolina.
