Spinx Opens First Charleston-Area Store

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- There's no slowing down The Spinx Co., which today celebrated  the opening of its first convenience store in North Charleston with a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting at the 6899 Rivers Ave. location.

"We're thrilled to open these doors to our coastal neighbors and continue the Spinx brand's quest of making people's lives easier right here in North Charleston. This first of many stores to come in the Charleston area represents the culmination of six years of hard work and planning, so we're excited to kick off our expansion here today," said Stewart Spinks, founder and chairman of Spinx. "We're grateful to the North Charleston community and its leaders for welcoming the Spinx brand into the community so warmly, and we look forward to many years of partnership."

The 5,100-square-foot convenience store will operate on a 24-hour schedule and will feature a full foodservice deli from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, as well as fresh hot food offerings. Customers can also fill up with Spinx Fresh on the Go and Spinx SuperMax performance fuel.

“This store is the sixth time we've built this new generation design since its inception over two years ago. Our new store design and its product offer represent our best ideas to date, and we believe it uniquely positions us to fulfill all of our on-the-go customers’ daily needs," said Steve Spinks, Spinx president and CEO.

As CSNews Online reported this week, Spinx acquired three Pumper's convenience stores, located in the upstate South Carolina area. It began operating the Mauldin North Main Street location on Jan. 23, the Greenville North Pleasantburg location on March 5 and the Greenville Haywood Road location on March 6. The c-stores will remain under the Pumper's brand for the next two to three months. However, each location is issuing and redeeming Spinx Xtras loyalty rewards.

Founded in 1972, Greenville, S.C.-based Spinx operates 69 convenience retail stores in South Carolina and North Carolina. The company is today the largest privately held, partial employee-owned gasoline-convenience retailer headquartered in South Carolina.
