Sports Fans Get Their Fix at Royal Farms

BALTIMORE -- Royal Farms Convenience Stores is forming a partnership with PressBox, a new weekly sports publication, that will expand the news weekly’s distribution by 25 percent, representing a hike in circulation from 25,000 to over 31,000.

Beginning July 13, according to a report in the Baltimore Business Journal, Royal Farms will distribute the newspaper, which is free and published on Thursdays.

"We've been watching the launch and growth of PressBox since its inception," said Frank Schilling, director of marketing and merchandising for Baltimore-based Royal Farms. "Offering this quality publication is consistent with our desire to be the convenience store of choice in all markets we serve."

The publication, launched in late April, is also turning to the radio waves in an attempt to attract readers and build its newspaper brand. Paul Mittermeier, former host of the Ravens Radio pre-game show, will host PressBox Live Sunday, a weekly radio show on ESPN Radio 1300 AM, focusing on Baltimore's local sports scene.

Royal Farms operates more than 100 convenience stores in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
