Stewart's Philly Vanilla Flavor Named International Top Scoop

NEW YORK -- Stewart’s Shops’ Philly Vanilla will be named top vanilla flavor at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., later this month, according to a report by the Albany-based CBS Channel 6 News.

Judges picked the flavor over 24 contenders from around the world. The entries were judged based on flavor, body, texture, appearance, color and melting quality, the report stated.

The ice cream is named after Philly Dake, who invented the Make Your Own Sundae.

"This is a great example of the focus on fresh ingredients and quality that our customers enjoy everyday," Stewart’s Shops President Gary Dake said in a release. "All of us at Stewart’s thank the hardworking people in our Ice Cream department."

Stores are discounting Philly Vanilla half gallons next week in honor of the recognition.
