Customers can make a donation at any Stewart's convenience store throughout the Capital Region from now until Christmas Day, and the company will matched it 100 percent. All proceeds benefit area organizations that help kids, the report stated

"$1.2 million went to more than a thousand children's organizations last year," Stewart's Shops Corp. marketing manager Tom Mailey said in a released statement. "This year it's going to be interesting. The economy, you know, is struggling, but everything that I read said people are still going to be generous, so we hope that is the case."

Area organizations can also apply to receive funding. Applications can be picked up at local Stewart's stores. The deadline is Jan. 31.
