Stripes Pledges Support to National Guard & Reserve

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Susser Holdings Corp., parent company of Stripes LLC, today reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to the "citizen warriors" of the National Guard and Reserve. Otis Peaks, vice president of human resources for Susser Holdings, signed a statement of support with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, on behalf of Stripes.

"Supportive employers like Stripes Convenience Stores are critical to maintaining the readiness and strength of the nation's Guard and Reserve units, and allow guardsmen and reservists the opportunity to serve our country more effectively and with greater peace of mind," said Paul E. Mock, ESGR national chair. "By signing this statement of support, Stripes Convenience Stores sends a clear message they stand committed to their military employees and recognize the integrity, global perspective and proven leadership they bring to the workplace."

Stripes pledged that:

  • It fully recognizes, honors and enforces the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act.
  • Its managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.
  • It appreciates the values, leadership and unique skills that service members provide to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire guardsmen, reservists and veterans.
  • It will continually recognize and support service members and their families in times of peace, crises and war.

"We are proud to support our men and women in uniform, along with their families. We salute our military personnel for their services, sacrifices and commitments to our country," Peaks stated. "It is our honor to make this pledge, which represents our 10,000 Stripes team members across Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma."

Susser Holdings Corp. is a third-generation, family-led business that operates 627 convenience stores under the Stripes and Sac-N-Pac banners.
