Subway Opens 32 New C-Store Locations

MILFORD, Conn. -- Subway, a division of Doctor's Associates Inc., opened 32 locations in convenience stores throughout the world during August and September.

The largest quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain operates a total of more than 35,300 locations in 98 countries. The QSR celebrated milestones during the last two months when it opened its 400th restaurant in Kentucky and 800th in Georgia.

Subway also announced it opened five new "green" locations during August and September. The stores are designed with environmentally friendly elements to reduce energy, water and waste consumption in cost effective ways.

"All of these new eco-restaurants reflect the brand's commitment to social responsibility and sustainability," said Elizabeth Smart, head of Subway's corporate social responsibility efforts. "We have made a commitment to make our restaurant and operations more environmentally responsible. As the largest restaurant chain in the world, in terms of numbers of locations, we know we can make a real difference and are working toward that goal."
