Sunoco Refinery Down After Fire

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Sunoco Inc. said yesterday a 70,000 barrels per day (bpd) crude oil unit at its 140,000 bpd refinery in Toledo, Ohio was down after a fire broke out early Sunday morning.

"The crude unit is down--that's where the fire originated. But there is no disruption to supply," company spokeswoman Olivia Summons told Reuters. The refinery has two crude units each of 70,000 bpd.

Citing a company policy to not comment on daily refinery operations, Summons said she could not talk about the operation of the other units.

The fire broke out at 3:25 a.m., was out by 4:30 a.m. and the all-clear given at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, the report said.
