Tampico Citrus Punch Recalled

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Lucerne Foods is voluntarily recalling 19,560 one-gallon plastic jug containers of Tampico Citrus Punch sold by six retailers in Arizona and New Mexico, including Circle K convenience stores, due to the presence of an undeclared sensitive ingredient: Tartazine, which is also known as FD&C Yellow No. 5, Brandenton.com reported.

The recall impacts jugs sold after July 23, 2010 by the following retailers and locations:
• Circle K stores in Arizona
• El Super stores in Arizona
• Milk N More stores in Arizona
• Safeway Food & Drug stores in Arizona and in Gallup, New Mexico
• Thriftee Food & Drug stores in Arizona

The recalled product has a "Best By" date of Nov. 23, 2010, according to the report. The recall does not apply to any other Tampico flavors.

Lucerne receives pre-printed Tampico Citrus Punch labels from a third party label printer. The Citrus Punch labels printed with a UPC of 951888 02128 did not declare Yellow No. 5 in the ingredient statement, according to the report. No illnesses have been reported to date.
