Thorntons Names New President and COO
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Matt Thornton, CEO of Louisville, Ky.-based Thorntons Inc., has passed his duties as president and chief operating officer of the company to William "Graham" Baughman.
Baughman, who joined the company in May 2000, previously served as executive vice president of the company.
Baughman previously worked with Covington, Ky.-based Ashland Inc. and as vice president of "a major brand distributor in Northeast Ohio," according to a biography on Thorntons' Web site.
In the release, Thornton said Baughman will continue to serve as "a leading agent in our quest to redefine our retail concept while helping to navigate the company to greater profitability."
Thorntons, which operates 155 gasoline and convenience stores in the Midwest, has more than $900 million in annual revenue.
In April, the company said it is planning an "aggressive rebranding effort" and expansion that will include a new foodservice operation called SubWorks.
