Thorntons to Sell $1 Pink Ribbons During October

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Thorntons Inc. will sell pink ribbons for $1 each all this month to raise money for the fight against breast cancer, the company announced. All proceeds from the sale will go to charity.

"Breast cancer is a deadly disease that has affected the lives of many of our family members, friends, colleagues, and customers," said Matt Thornton, President and CEO of Thorntons. "At Thorntons, we are passionate about building awareness and supporting Breast Cancer Research whenever possible."

Thorntons is also supporting the cause through its new Pink Cause coffee cup and its line of Living Life Natural Spring Water. A portion of the proceeds from each cup or water bottle sold will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness.

The c-store chain first introduced its fundraising Living Life line in 2006 and held its first Pink Ribbon Campaign in 2007. In total, Thorntons has raised more than $260,000 for breast cancer research and support to date, the company said.

The company's further charitable efforts won it the 2011 Convenience Store News Spirit Award for Community Outreach in the 100-499 store category. For more information on the Spirit Awards, read the Nov. 7th issue of CSNews.
