TravelCenters of America Joins Trucking Trade Association

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC joined American Trucking Associations (ATA), the largest national trade association of the trucking industry. ATA's goal is to advance the industry's image, efficiency, competitiveness and profitability.

"I am excited about becoming an ATA member," Thomas O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters, said in a news release. "TravelCenters of America provides fleets and drivers with facilities and services that help drive their efficiency. Additionally, we provide care, comfort and hospitality to drivers while they are on the road away from home. Our association with ATA enables us to [leverage] our industry-leading services like truck maintenance, roadside assistance and our growing health and fitness initiatives in order to better the world of trucking."

O'Brien said TravelCenters intends to be an active member of ATA in an effort to further the industry. "We look forward to our partnership with ATA and leveraging our combined resources on matters important to the world of trucking," he said. "Above all, we look forward to doing what we can, as an organization, to bring additional respect to the trucking industry and the drivers who serve in it."

ATA President and CEO Bill Graves said he "couldn't be happier" that TravelCenters joined the association. "Our industry faces tremendous challenges, both political and economic, but those challenges also present opportunities for us and our members," he said. "Decisions are made by those who show up, and I am tremendously pleased that TravelCenters has chosen to show up to help and to lead."

TravelCenters operates 235 locations carrying the TA and Petro banners.

ATA comprises a federation of 50 affiliated state trucking associations.
