TravelCenters' Restaurant Group Tests New Iron Skillet Concept

WESTLAKE, Ohio — The TA Restaurant Group, a division of TravelCenters of America LLC (TA), held a grand reopening of its full-service Iron Skillet restaurant at the Petro Stopping Center in Sparks, Nev., following a remodel. The western-themed restaurant now features a significantly upgraded menu and experience.

The restaurant upgrade is the final step in a complete $2.5 million remodel of the site, which is located at 1950 E. Greg St. off of Interstate 80's Exit 21. It now operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"The new Iron Skillet in Sparks offers our guests fresh, unique food options. We are excited and eager to showcase our new Iron Skillet concept to the public and offer our guests more quality, more choices, great customer service, and fresh, home-cooked meals," said John Ponczoch, senior vice president of TA and leader of the TA Restaurant Group.

The newly designed Iron Skillet menu features USDA Choice steaks, including sirloin, rib-eye and T-bone that are hand-cut on site and cooked over a mesquite-wood fire, as well as hickory-smoked baby back ribs and brisket plus buttermilk marinated, hand battered, made-to-order chicken tenders.

The restaurant also has a buffet with specialty offerings at certain times, including prime rib on Thursdays from 4 p.m.-10 p.m.; seafood on Fridays from 4 p.m.-10 p.m.; BBQ Special on Saturdays from 1 p.m.-10 p.m.; and Country Cooking Special on Sundays from 1 p.m.-10 p.m. Additionally, the newly designed soup and salad bar contains more than 50 items, including select, locally sourced produce, and hand-crafted freshly prepared salads and vegetables.

The breakfast menu features popular Iron Skillet items such as three-egg omelets, chicken fried steak and eggs, homemade sausage and a full line of hand-cut USDA choice steaks. On the weekends, guests can enjoy a brunch buffet that features a custom-omelet station from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
