United Family Adopts Currency Management Technology

LUBBOCK, Texas — United Express is planning to improve its currency management at all levels of its operations. Parent company The United Family implemented Lenexa, Kan.-based Balance Innovations' VeriBalance currency management platform and vbInSight corporate reporting software across its entire network of convenience stores, as well as its United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and Albertsons Market banners.

“The VeriBalance platform will give us better corporate visibility into our cash and store operations,” said Mandy Tomlin, controller for The United Family. “At our stores, the consistent, automated procedures will maximize the efficiency of currency operations, creating more time for serving our customers.”

VeriBalance is designed to reduce store-level bookkeeping time by more than four hours per day in each store and ensure consistent practices throughout The United Family stores. It also enables United Family to more fully automate its frontend operations, creating more throughput at registers and freeing up time for associates to focus on the customer experience.

vbInSight is intended to provide The United Family corporate users with greater visibility of store activity and performance with real-time alerts and customizable reports. According to Balance Innovations, these tools will also enable The United Family to identify and address issues faster without time-consuming manual research or costly travel to investigate.

“United is taking control of its currency management to improve operations and serve its customers even better,” said Darren Knipp, president and CEO of Balance Innovations. “We’re thrilled they’ve chosen our solutions to help them do that.”

Lubbock-based The United Family operates 73 stores under the aforementioned five banners. United Express is its convenience store banner.
