United Refining Sees Positive Quarter
WARREN, Pa. -- United Refining Co., a refining and marketing company that also operates Kwik Fill/Red Apple and Country Fair convenience stores, saw a productive second quarter, as operating income turned around from the loss of $100,000 in the second quarter of 2006 to reach a positive $5.3 million in the second quarter of this year.
Retail merchandise sales increased $2.5 million and retail petroleum sales were also up $11.9 million in the second quarter, due to increased sales volume, the company stated.
Earnings for the company increased $5 million to $9.2 million, doubling the profit seen in the year-ago period.
