U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Increases Prices

12/10/2004
GREENWICH, Conn. -- U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co., the principal subsidiary of UST Inc. and a leading producer and marketer of moist smokeless tobacco products, announced the wholesale price on all its Copenhagen, Skoal and Rooster products will increase by 10 cents to $2.91 per can. Prices on Red Seal and Husky products will remain the same. The price increase will take effect Jan. 1, 2005.

In order to maintain an orderly flow of the company's dated products, wholesale and direct retail customers will be able to place orders up to a maximum of their average weekly shipments over the past 13 weeks until the price increase takes effect.

The company is the only smokeless tobacco manufacturer to sign the Smokeless Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement.
