Valero Selects New Leader for Convenience Division

SAN ANTONIO -- Valero Energy Corp. is making a number of corporate leadership changes effective Jan. 1, including the shifting of Kim Bowers to executive vice president and retail president of the company's convenience store division in the United States and Canada, the San Antonio Business Journal reported.

Bowers currently serves as Valero's executive vice president and general counsel.

Gary Arthur, the current corporate senior vice president and retail president, will become corporate senior vice president of wholesale marketing at Valero.

Other new appointments include:

  • Jay Browning, current corporate senior vice president and corporate secretary, to Bowers' position as general counsel;
  • Jim Gillingham, current corporate senior vice president of alternative energy and project development, to the position of corporate senior vice president of specialty products;
  • Martin Parrish, current corporate vice president of crude, feedstock supply and trading, to the position of corporate vice president, alternative energy and project development; and
  • Gary Simmons, current corporate vice president of supply chain optimization, to the position of corporate vice president of crude, feedstock supply and trading.

"This realignment is important for the development and execution of our strategies and for the individual development of key leaders within Valero as we prepare for a rapidly changing competitive environment," stated Valero Chairman and CEO Bill Klesse.
