Vets Get Special Deals at Kangaroo Express, TravelCenters

NATIONAL REPORT — Convenience stores are joining with the rest of America on Tuesday to honor the country's military service members.

Kangaroo Express will give service members across the Southeast a special deal in honor of Veterans Day. Customers who present military identification at Kangaroo Express' nearly 1,200 grill-ready stores between 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 11 can purchase a grill item for 25 cents, one per guest, while supplies last.  

"We are always looking for ways to thank servicemen and women for their many sacrifices — whether it's serving up a 25-cent grill item or donating millions to support military charities through our annual Salute Our Troops campaign," said Gordon Schmidt, senior vice president of operations at Kangaroo Express. "Our service members deserve our thanks each and every day, and we look forward to offering them a special deal as a small token of appreciation on Veteran’s Day."

Kangaroo Express is operated by Cary, N.C.-based The Pantry Inc. More than half of its stores are located within 25 miles of a military installation.

TravelCenters of America LLC, operator of TA and Petro Stopping Centers branded travel centers, is also recognizing the service of U.S. veterans. The Westlake, Ohio-based company will offer truck drivers who are also veterans of the U.S. armed services a complimentary meal on Veterans Day at any participating TA or Petro sit-down restaurant across the United States.

Veterans Day meals can be enjoyed at nearly 220 participating Iron Skillet, Country Pride and other full-service, homestyle restaurants within TA and Petro Stopping Centers.

"Once again, we are taking this opportunity to thank the many truck drivers who are also military veterans for their service and sacrifice — both in our armed forces, and each day on the road," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters.

TravelCenters operates 251 convenient full-service locations off interstate highway exits. TA and Petro Stopping Centers offer customers diesel and gasoline fueling services, more than 500 full- and quick-service restaurants, 24-hour convenience stores, heavy truck maintenance services, RoadSquad Connect, and Reserve-It.

TravelCenters also operates gasoline/convenience stores in Kentucky and Tennessee under the Minit Mart brand name.
