Village Pantry Unit to Reduce Hours

INDIANAPOLIS
Sometimes it can be more profitable to close the doors and call it a day.

An Indianapolis convenience store that's been robbed 19 times in the past 13 months has decided just that - by reducing its hours and closing between midnight and 6 a.m., the Indianapolis Star reported.

The same suspect, who frequently wears a mask and heavy clothing, may have committed as many as 12 of the robberies, Indianapolis police said.

The robber has become so brazen, authorities said, that he just walks into the store and helps himself to the cash without announcing a holdup.

"Luck has been on his side right now," Sgt. Burgess Ricks said. "But he'll be caught."

Officers said that 35 percent of all of the city's armed robberies are at convenience stores.
